White Center marijuana growing operation busted; charges unlikely

For anyone wondering about a KIRO 7 chopper looming over White Center in the early evening of June 26, they were keeping an eye on a King County Sheriff’s Office bust of a marijuana growing operation on the 9600 block of 16th Ave S.W., according to KCSO spokesperson Cindi West.

West said a search warrant was obtained for the property and deputies discovered a “semi-compliant” medical marijuana growing operation. By semi-complaint, West said the owners had the proper paperwork to grow for medicinal use, but had “a few more plants than they should have.”

Criminal charges are unlikely and deputies will be working with the owners to bring their garden into compliance with state law, West said.

The actual number of plants nor the specific address of the grow operation were released.
