According to KCSO Sgt. Cindi West, the same man who escaped from deputy custody at Harborview Hospital on Feb. 25 (with handcuffs still on) was spotted by a deputy in the area earlier today. The deputy attempted to stop the suspect, described as a Samoan male, 5’8”, 170 lbs., who fled.

Deputies have brought in two K-9 search units and have S.W. 104th to S.W. 106th and 26th Ave. S.W. to 28th Ave. S.W. cordoned off to focus the search. West said KCSO’s helicopter Guardian One is currently unavailable.

West said the suspect dropped a duffle bag full of mail, indicating he may have been involved in mail theft when the deputy made contact.

Just after 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 (the day of the escape), deputies were preparing their detainee for transport from Harborview Hospital to the King County Jail when he took off running and fled through a parking garage. He was detained for two theft warrants, according to SPD.
