Press release from Musica Sacra:

"A Taste of Britten" is the theme of a concert series to be presented by the Musica Sacra Chamber Chorale at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Friday, April 26, 7:30 p.m., 4210 SW Genesee St., West Seattle, as well as Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seattle’s U-District April 20, 7:30 p.m. and Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue April 28, 3:00 p.m.

This series features Benjamin Britten’s ethereal "Hymn to the Virgin" for double choir, written by the composer at 17 years of age, as well as the wonderful "Hymn to St. Cecilia" set to lyrics by W.H. Auden. Other British composers from the Renaissance Period through the present whose works will be performed include William Byrd, Henry Purcell, G.F. Handel, Samuel Sebastian Wesley, W. H. Harris, Sir Charles Stanford, Sir Edward Elgar, Gerald Finzi and Sir John Tavener. Treat yourself and a friend to a wonderful concert of British choral music by one of Seattle’s premiere choral groups.

The Musica Sacra Chamber Chorale's "Taste of Britten" upcoming concert series has been selected by the Britten–Pears Foundation (BPF) to be represented on the britten100.org website as one of the selected events and activities worldwide to celebrate the centenary of composer Benjamin Britten in 2013. We are really excited to be in the company of groups like the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Sydney Philharmonia Chamber Singers, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, generally those in the "who's who" of International Music Groups.

The Britten 100 branding and website has been developed by the Britten–Pears Foundation (BPF) working in partnership with the three main publishers of Britten's music - Boosey & Hawkes, Faber Music and Chester Music - and his recording company, Decca. BPF is based at The Red House in Aldeburgh, where Britten lived and worked.
