Talk about heartbreak.
West Seattle battled Shelton for 11 innings Saturday in state Class 3A regional action, only to take a season-ending 2-1 loss in the end.
West Seattle needed two wins in the action at Dream Field in Mount Vernon to reach next week's state semifinals at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.
Toutle Lake 2, Seattle Lutheran 1
Seattle Lutheran High School of West Seattle was also edged out of state regionals with an opening round loss Saturday.
The Saints needed two wins in their tournament played in Adna to reach the 2B state semifinals at Wheeler Field in Centralia.

The Wildcats blanked Bellevue, 4-0, in their first loser out game Thursday before bowing out with a 10-1 loss to Liberty.
The games were played at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle.

Maria Nguyen played at the Sea-King District 2 tennis tournament played at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle on Tuesday and lost in the opening round to Cello Lockwood of Holy Names, 6-2, 6-1.
