Police Blotter Week of 6-2-14

Under Construction
A vicious assault was committed just before 3 p.m. on May 24 in front of a residence on the 8100 block of 27 Ave. S.W. The victim was mowing his lawn and the lawn strips in front of his home and the house next door to him (the residence is currently empty and the lawn is often unkempt) when a black 90’s model Mercedes- Benz pulled to the curb in front of him. The victim told responding officers that he recognized this vehicle as it is frequently parked across the street from his home and playing loud music in the middle of the night. A sticker in the corner of the windshield says “Under Construction”.

The suspect, a stocky Hispanic male in his 20’s standing approximately 5’7 with a close shaved head, got out of the vehicle and began alleging that a rock was kicked up by the lawn mower blade and hit his car. The victim and the suspect began a loud and lewd verbal argument. At a certain point the suspect turned back to his car and signaled for his passenger, a white or Hispanic male with red hair and average build, to get out the car. As soon as this second suspect got out of the car he immediately began attacking the victim with punches. Once the victim was on the ground both suspects began kicking him repeatedly in the head.

By the time police responded both suspects were gone. The victim was bruised, bleeding and appeared to have a broken jaw. The victim was also displaying obvious head trauma and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officers went and interviewed the resident of the house that the suspect often parks in front of and learned that the resident had dated the suspect for a few months. She informed the officers that she didn’t know the suspect’s real name but that she was pretty sure that the suspect was part of a car club that uses the “Under Construction” sticker that was on his windshield. The suspects remain at large.
