Easy Street Records in the West Seattle Junction will celebrate the life and career of the late Chris Cornell with a showing of the film Singles Friday May 19.. The event will begin at 7pm Cornell made a cameo appearance in the film with Soundgarden also appearing.

Cornell, who lived in West Seattle for most of his early career died in Detroit, on May 18. The outpouring of grief accompanying his passing has been seen all across Seattle from the tributes on local radio to flowers at the Soundgarden at Magnuson Park and the "Black Hole Sun" sculpture in Kerry Park on Queen Anne Hill. A memorial wall at Seattle Center is quickly collecting memories and tributes.

The version of the film being shown is the original 1992 DVD on in-store TVs as background while they play the newly released soundtrack on our stereo. The deluxe edition of the soundtrack - not the movie - has six extra Chris Cornell songs that were not on the original soundtrack, as well as 11 additional rare and unreleased tracks.

Prizes, music and low cost beer will be part of the event.
