Cook dies after tumble

Wednesday, June 07, 2006

A 43-year-old woman died May 31 after falling out of a delivery truck as it crossed the West Seattle Bridge.

Yen Nguyen, a cook, suffered fatal head and bone fractures when she fell out the rear door of the truck as it headed westbound over the bridge shortly after 7 a.m., said Officer Rich Pruitt, spokesman for the Seattle Police Department. Apparently Nguyen was preparing food for delivery as the van made its way toward West Seattle.

Passing motorists called 911 to report the incident and the Seattle Fire Department sent help at 7:21 a.m.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Nguyen's death an accident.
