" While aesthetics are certainly something to consider in the process, the Mayor needs to look at the needs of the people and get real. A safe viaduct and sane transportation are long overdue. This city is becoming crippled by its transportation woes and the viaduct is near the top of the list. Wake up Mayor. "

" "Moving vehicles is less important than providing spaces for people to enjoy," the mayor said at a waterfront news conference.
Does the Mayor live in a bubble? He lives in West Seattle and his office is downtown...because he can afford it. Most middle-income Washington residents can't afford to live that close to downtown. Does he only care about downtown residents and visitors? What about the people who have to commute in from more than 5 miles away? I think he should concentrate on getting a comprehensive public transportation system set in place without raising taxes AGAIN. Busses aren't going to cut it forever, if he wants Seattle to be a world-class city. We have more open spaces in this town than anyplace I've ever lived in my life. Don't take any away but let's concentrate on some more important issues, shall we? "

" Wow! what a surprise! The state DOT Director is against the retrofit. The Mayor is against the rebuild and retrofit. It seem the only party not being considered are the people who will have to pay for this project. "
