Lots of crooks booked
By Megan Sheppard
At 5 a.m. Sunday, a patrolling officer noticed a car parked the wrong way on Bonair SW. Inside were a sleeping male, a female, and a dog. When he checked on their welfare and informed them they couldn_t _camp_ there, he also checked their identification. The man had two felony warrants and a misdemeanor warrant, and was booked into King County Jail.
About a half hour later, another Alki-area officer followed a hunch, checking the license plate of a frequently-stolen model of car that passed by. The car did turn out to be stolen, and the driver _ who had been drinking _ told a number of conflicting stories about why he was in the area and who owned the car. Plus, he was wanted by the Department of Corrections on a felony drug possession/escape warrant. He was booked into King County Jail, and the car was returned to its owner.
But wait, there_s more. Yet another officer collared a DOC felon after doing a routine check on a license plate near Delridge and Trenton. The suspect knew he was wanted, and did not stop, even after his tires were deflated by a police department _stop stick._ When taken from the car, the man had a glass pipe and crack cocaine.
And several citizens called 911 to report a man in his 30s acting _weird_ with kids at the playground across from Westwood Village. The man claimed that the 8-year-old boy he hugged and kissed was his son, yet said he couldn_t remember the boy_s last name because he (the _dad_) had been in prison for several years. This suspect on is active supervision with the Department of Corrections, and was immediately placed under arrest. His companion at the park was a slightly intoxicated red-haired woman in her 60s who was investigated and released.
A woman who walks Alki each evening has noticed a car following her and driving slowly by over the past month. Wednesday evening, the driver, an Asian male in his late 20s, pulled the car over and ran toward her. The woman was able to call 911 and caught up to another walker. The suspect drove off. His white VW Jetta is registered to a Renton address.
Early Monday, near Alki, a man walked by a home as a female resident was smoking near the front door. Moments later he appeared again, walking toward her, wearing only a tan sweatshirt. He was naked below the waist and generously offered to pleasure himself for her benefit. But he walked off again without following through. A K9 search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
Animal Control requested officer assistance to access a home on 35th SW where two cats and a dog had been left alone in the home for a week. Feces and garbage littered the floor and drink bottles were filled with urine (possibly as a toilet alternative, since the house had no running water). No food or water had been left for the animals. Two were recovered; one ran and hid, but will be recovered soon.
A citizen reports that a laptop computer and other items were stolen from his car Friday afternoon at the West Seattle Golf Course parking lot.
