George Ovard Smith

Keep Smilin' and Singen - George Smith Your Banjo Pickin' Friend, 93, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at his home in West Seattle. Born April 29, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He moved to Portland as a young man during the depression where he established a large masonry contracting business with his brother. He relocated to West Seattle in 1961 and established Smith Concrete & Masonry which was later turned over to his son Josh.

Survived by one sister, Mary Pierce (Portland); seven children, Sharon Langman (Utah), DeAnne Smith (Utah) Georgia Henrichsen (Oregon), David Smith (Illinois), Joshua Smith (Seattle), Jesse Smith (Seattle), Jody Brockhausen (Texas); 44 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the West Seattle chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wednesday, Aug. 15. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon.
