West Seattle boys soccer team advances

The West Seattle Under 17 boys soccer team won the District 3 title to advance to the Washington State Youth Soccer Association President's Cup Tournament which includes the champions from the seven districts in Washington State, plus one at-large berth.
West Seattle Eagles advanced on penalty kicks after the match ended 1-1 after regulation and two overtime periods. Jon Mora scored the lone goal for West Seattle during regulation. Daniel Anway, Eddie Baker, Sean McMonigle, and Jon Mora scored penalty kicks to win the match. Joey Shaughnessy had several saves for West Seattle in goal.
The West Seattle Eagles include Daniel Anway, Eddie Baker, Steven Bradley, Mario Buty, Jeff Fry, Kyle Johnson, Kyle MacDonald, Declan Malley, Jackson McComish, Sean McMonigle, Jon Mora, Will Nelson, Sam Niver, Joey Shaughnessy, Cooper Sinai-Yunker, Graham Sutherland, and Alex VanDenende.
Baker, Bradley, Fry, MacDonald, McMonigle, Mora, Nelson, Niver Shaughnessy, Sinai-Yunker, and VanDenende attend West Seattle High School; Anway and Buty attend Garfield; McComish attends Seattle Lutheran; Johnson and Malley attend Seattle Prep; and Sutherland attends The Northwest School. Several play for their high school teams.
The West Seattle Eagles are coached by Ben Hardy, Bill Fry, and John Yunker.
