Madison Girls' Soccer Team Wins City Championship

The Girls' soccer team from Madison Middle School won the Seattle City Championship by defeating Whitman. The girls progressed to the championship game after winning their first playoff game against Eckstein, with a score of 4-2. In their semi-final game against Washington Middle School, they won a hard fought game that went into overtime and penalty kicks after tying 1-1 in regulation play. They eventually won 3-0 in penalty kicks after Madison goalie Savannah Bogan stopped every shot. Whitman fought hard to maintain their first place status coming into the game as the North End number 1 team but Madison managed won 2-1 with goals scored by Madison French and Hailey Watkins. Madison's team was made up of Madison French, Noni O'Reilly, Kayla George, Hailey Watkins, Hailey Hage, Kerri Selk, Kelly Jenkins, Megan Ormsby, Tessa Jinneman, Gabby Flores, Annie Patnode, Lauren Lane, Colleen Moroney, Maria Diehl, Kayla Shewbert, Hallelujah Spohn, Farrah Kreis, Angela Ponselle, Savannah Bogan, Sydney Jaksich, Cassidy Buichle, Alexis Fittro and Michelle Raney. Madison's team was directed by first year coaches Jose M. and Quauhtli Martinez and managed by Evonne Martinez.
