ArtsWest

Located in the Junction, this nonprofit organization serves as a pub for performing, visual and literary arts in West Seattle. The 149-seat playhouse stages dramatic and musical productions, performed by ArtsWest's own theater company, as well as late-night improvisational groups. The lobby doubles as an art gallery featuring exhibits by local artists. ArtsWest also facilitates an artist's association and sponsors occasional literary presentations and educational workshops.

Cambodian Cultural Museum and Killing Fields Memorial

Cambodian paintings, carvings and small sculptures are on display. There's also a special exhibit memorializing the victims of the Khmer Rouge.

The Nature Consortium

The nature Consortium is a grassroots organization that strives to teach environmental lessons through the creative arts and hands-n conservation efforts. It sponsors a youth art program, an urban forest restoration project and the Arts in Nature festival, which takes place in late August at Camp Long.

South Seattle Community College offers a variety of year-round concerts, lecturers and art exhibits. Its online calendar provides an up-to date guide to events.

Southwest Seattle Historical Society (Log House Museum)

The Southwest Seattle Historical Society is active in preserving the history of the Duwamish Peninsula. The groups runs the Birthplace of Seattle Log House Museum on Alki, which offers exhibits celebrating the history of the Duwamish peninsula and the city's cradle. Longtime West Seattle residents also meet there to develop memory books and tape oral histories.
