Junction

Friday, May 09, 2008

Named for the location where two streetcar lines crossed, the California Avenue Junction is the hub for a variety of boutiques, restaurants, as well as the popular ArtsWest Playhouse and Gallery. Nowhere else in the city is it legal to cross the intersection diagonally than at the convergence of Alaska Street and California Avenue, and nowhere else can one be so befuddled as to which way to go. No trip to the Junction is complete without sampling some ice cream at Husky Deli or grabbing an espresso and baked treat at Caper's. Small, locally owned shops cater to childhood whimsy, young lovers looking for the perfect way to tie the knot, as well as basic needs and professional services.

Continuing south down California Avenue, Morgan Junction serves as the gateway to Lincoln Park and Fauntleroy. It also has a host of services, including a grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants and other small businesses.
