White Center

White Center continues to be a growing and diverse neighborhood. The Community Development Association is a nonprofit grassroots organization whose mission is to build community and improve the quality of life for White Center residents through community-based economic redevelopment, affordable housing and advocacy, according to executive director Aileen Balahadia.

As an organization comprised of community members, the Community Development Association includes the same diverse residents and shopkeepers that make up the White Center fabric.

"We encourage diverse communities to dream big about their neighborhood," Balahadia said. In fact, several of the WCCDA-supported events celebrate the area's multicultural identity with the Cambodian New Year and Polynesian Festival.
