SWDC looking for volunteers to form a Land Use Committee.

May 17th Citywide Emergency Drill: The drill runs from 9 AM until noon in various locations including West Seattle. It provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about the network of hubs throughout Seattle and hear how we can communicate using radio technology. West Seattle will activate the Ercolini Park neighborhood hub (see map) at 4700 SW Alaska Street.  read more »

Rotaract and interact Fundraiser for People of Guatamala


Rotaract and Interact in Action:

What: Fund Raiser for People for Guatemala
When: May 10th 9am to 3pm rain or shine.
Where: 5400 California Ave. SW – parking lot in front of American Family Insurance (Michael Galvin, thank you for offering the space)
What we need: If you have items to donate for sell, please email ayahoffman@gmail.com ; you can drop off or they can come to pick up with a truck.
What else is needed: your presence, even if just come to meet and greet our Rotaracts. Interacts may have a lemonade and cookie sale.

DIY Bikes at West Seattle Tool Library

DIY Bikes will be starting their non profit repair facility at the West Seattle Tool Library this Sunday May 4th from noon to 4pm and will continue through out the summer months each Sunday.

The tool library is located at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center on the east side of the building.

DIY Bikes continues to teach folks how to keep their bicycles running smooth and safe through these hands on repair sessions. The tools, materials, facility and knowledge is free. Major parts replacement may have necessary pricing and donations are accepted. Learn-Fix-Ride...  read more »

Community Orchard of West Seattle: How to build rich and lasting soil beds

This week at COWS, (Community Orchard of West Seattle) we will be showing the public how to build rich and lasting soil beds using the lasagna garden method. This May Day edition of our usual Thursday Health and Harvest starts at 5pm with the soil building class between 5 and 6pm.

DEA Drug Take Back day- SW Seattle Police Precinct Apr. 26

The Seattle Police Department will participate in the DEA Drug Take Back day this Saturday, April 26th. The public can drop off their unused medication at the Southwest precinct located at 2300 S. W. Webster St. from hours of 10 am to 2 pm. We will not ask to see or check what they are putting in the box. Any type of medication is fine.
