Herring Fest @ Ballard Landmark

What: The Pickled Herring Band plays music reminiscent of dance pavilions and grange halls of yesteryear. From schottisches to polkas, waltzes to swing, these familiar melodies are bound to spark old memories and get your toes tapping. Ballard Pub Crawl to benefit multiple sclerosis

What: The 8th Annual Pub Crawl take place in Ballard this year. It's an annual event that raised $10,000 for a cause that affects each and every one of us in the Northwest.

In order to participate, pre-registration is $30 and day-of will be $35. You will receive your MS Pub Crawl t-shirts upon arrival. Drink Specials valid from 3-10 p.m. You can also donate straight to the cause at http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/PubCrawl

Free local history lecture @ Seattle Public Library

What: Curious about a religious colony, which once made headlines in Seattle papers and became such a mysterious presence in the Whittier Heights neighborhood? Come to a free lecture to learn more about the Seventh Elect Church in Israel, and the recent transformation of its property into Kirke Park. This free public lecture is sponsored by Ballard Historical Society and presented by Barbara Hainley, Friends of Kirke Park. No RSVP required. The North Highline Unincorporated Area Council is holding a board "workshop" Thursday, March 7, 7pm at the North Highline Fire Station.

Regular meetings will resume Thursday April 4.

Spokespeople ride to Downtown

From North Admiral in West Seattle to Downtown. The winter months are waning. If you have put your bike away for the winter this is a good time to break into the growing bicycle commuter scene in West Seattle. This is a guided tour opportunity to pre-ride the downtown commute with the best route information and assistance.
Round trip ride distance is 11.5 miles showing some traffic free alternatives to the usual routes.

Ride starts from Alki Bike and Board, 2606 California Ave. S.W. at 11am this Sunday March 3rd.

Relay for Life Northwest Seattle

What: Join the American Cancer Society in the fight to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by participating in this Relay for Life, which takes place overnight. Suggested team fundraising goal is $1,500.

Alzheimer’s Cafe @ Ampersand Pantry & Cafe

What: The Alzheimer’s Cafe provides an opportunity to get out and socialize in a safe environment. No judgement or expectations - just support. Delicious food including a choice of a soup, sandwich, or dessert, and a coffee menu and beer and wine. There is musical entertainment and lots of fun. Parking available at the Greenwood Senior Center which is in walking distance, or at the Bank of America lot just west of the cafe. This is a program of the Phinney Neighborhood Association’s Greenwood Senior Center.

AAA Driver Improvement Program

What: Now accepting reservations for a refresher course on defensive driving skills. The course gives practical guidance for traffic accident prevention and enhances driver safety and confidence. Successful course completion qualifies drivers 55 years of age and over for automobile insurance premium discounts. Course operated by American Driving Services.
