Positive Discipline classes

A four-session positive discipline class will be held March 26, April 2, April 9, and April 30 from 9:00am to noon at the Community School of West Seattle (9450 22nd Ave SW). The cost is $75 or $125/couple (scholarships are available).

Genesse-Schmitz Neighborhood Council hosting neighborhood event Mar. 31

To kick-off year two of the Genesee-Schmitz Neighborhood Council, the event will start with a town hall forum where neighbors can share the concerns and interests they want the council to focus on for year two.

Then family fun begins with a hoedown led by instructor Dina Blade and live music from the Canote Brothers. Neighbors will make new connections with each other and families can step into spring with lively music and camaraderie.  read more »

34th District Town Hall Meeting- High Point Comm Ctr

Sen. Sharon Nelson, Rep. Eileen Cody and Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon will host a town hall meeting to talk about the 2011 Legislative Session and to hear from constituents.

The legislators from the 34th District will provide updates about the state’s budget situation, efforts to create new jobs in Washington and an array of issues specific to the 34th District. Residents are encouraged to come with comments and questions.

How dogs can help us save the whales-Lecture at the Longhouse

A lecture by Katherine Ayres, presented by The Whale Trail will discuss how specially trained scat detection dogs are helping researchers learn more about the endangered southern resident killer whales. Ayres from the Center for Conservation Biology, will describe how she selects, trains, and works with dogs on the water, and how one dog, Tucker is leading us to critical clues that can help save this iconic population.
