April Pool's Day

Seattle Parks and Recreation will join other public and private swimming pools throughout Washington to celebrate the 17th Annual April Pools Day. Participants of all ages will have the opportunity to learn hands-on water safety in and out of the water. Activities may include practicing wearing and using lifejackets, learning about hypothermia, taking a boat ride, practicing reaching and throwing rescues, and learning about CPR. Participants can enter a drawing for a free Mustang lifejacket and other prizes.

Our "April Showers Bring May Flowers" fundraising brunch will bring outstanding knowledge and interesting stories about seniors.

West Seattle See Dogs meeting- Train a puppy for the blind

West Seattle See Dogs, a local puppy raising club for Guide Dogs for the Blind, needs volunteers to spend a year or so teaching puppies good house manners and introducing them to the world.

At the meeting learn what’s involved and meet puppies in training.

FAUNTLEROY NEIGHBORHOOD EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MEETING

Support from the city, Fauntleroy Community Association and the Fauntleroy Church and YMCA is helping to organize the local neighborhood around FCUCC to get prepared in case of an emergency or disaster.

This meeting will focus on sharing information on personal and family preparedness (creating a family disaster plan, a supply kit, out of area contact and more) and deciding if the local community wants to prepare together to care for each other during a major disaster (aka The Big One).  read more »
