Seattle Seafair Commodores Bowl-a-Thon

Mark your calendars for the 18th Annual Seattle Seafair Commodores Bowl-a-Thon, a fun event to raise money for the Seafair Scholarship for Women Program.

Donation: $50 for ages 13 & up, $20 for 12 and under

Includes: two games, shoe rental, raffle items, and the famous post-tournament party

Groundswell NW Annual Meeting

Mend & Measure: Save money, save your favorite garment, consume less

Instructors Nicole Miller, owner of Blackbird and The Field House; Lauren Wang, product design at Blackbird; and Sue Weibler, Blackbird Candy Shoppe gal.

In the old U.S. Navy, sailors had one day a month called Mend & Measure where they were excused from their duties to launder and repair their clothes. Bring tattered socks or jeans, buttonless shirts or anything that needs a mend, and the Blackbird team will show how to, and help, repair those favorite duds. Attendees can bring mending supplies or share ones brought by the instructors.

Bike Maintenance and Preparation

Instructor Tyler Johnson raced bmx for eight years at a top competitive level and has been riding track bikes for three years. He considers himself an "all-around-love-to-ride-bikes guy." After working at a bike shop in Gig Harbor for a year, where he was a mechanic, combined with his history of riding, Tyler is knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of bikes.  read more »
