West Seattle American Legion Grand Parade

The West Seattle American Legion Grande Parade will feature floats, drill teams, motocycle drill teams, bands, clowns, pirates, Hi-Yu Royalty, and local politicians and celebrities as it makes its way from the Admiral District to the West Seattle Junction down California Avenue.

Bring a folding chair and pick your spot along the route early to see all the action.
The parade will start at approximately 11 am.

Stuff the Bus Diaper Drive

WestSide Baby is staging their 10th Annual Stuff the Bus diaper drive for children in need on Sunday July 25 at
the West Seattle Farmers Market from 10 AM to 2PM

Bring any size package of disposable diapers to donate.

August 7 the drive will move to Burien Town Square from 4:30 to 7:30 pm

Salmon Bay Natural Area Welcome Figure Dedication

Please join Groundswell NW and Duwamish tribal leader Cecile Hansen to celebrate "A Salish Welcome" – the installation of a major new artwork by Marvin Oliver at the Salmon Bay Natural Area, located at the south side of Northwest 54th Street at 34th Avenue Northwest. Groundswell NW spearheaded this project in partnership with the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs. Commissioned with Seattle Public Utilities 1% for Arts Funds and the Department of Neighborhoods' Neighborhood Matching Fund.

Ballard District Council Meeting


  1. Seattle Deputy Mayor Darryl Smith: Prior to being brought aboard as Mayor McGinn’s deputy, Darryl has years of experience as a civic leader in Seattle.
  2. Final Recommendation 2010 Neighborhood Projects Fund Ballard Priorities.: Annually, district councils are asked to develop a list of three priority small scale neighborhood improvement projects which they recommend be funded from the NPF. Out of a list of 42 proposals from the Ballard district, three have been evaluated for cost and feasibility by SDOT.

Greenwood Volunteer Night and Art Walk

Volunteers of America’s Community Resource Center will now be a stop along Greenwood’s Art Up and will also provide family friendly volunteer opportunities. The Art with Heart gallery will feature local artists and Volunteers of America clients. Proceeds of all art sales will benefit Volunteers of America. Guests are also welcome to participate in food bank volunteer activities, benefiting Greenwood Food Bank customers.
