Ballard District Council Meeting


  1. Seattle Deputy Mayor Darryl Smith: Prior to being brought aboard as Mayor McGinn’s deputy, Darryl has years of experience as a civic leader in Seattle.
  2. Final Recommendation 2010 Neighborhood Projects Fund Ballard Priorities.: Annually, district councils are asked to develop a list of three priority small scale neighborhood improvement projects which they recommend be funded from the NPF. Out of a list of 42 proposals from the Ballard district, three have been evaluated for cost and feasibility by SDOT.

Greenwood Volunteer Night and Art Walk

Volunteers of America’s Community Resource Center will now be a stop along Greenwood’s Art Up and will also provide family friendly volunteer opportunities. The Art with Heart gallery will feature local artists and Volunteers of America clients. Proceeds of all art sales will benefit Volunteers of America. Guests are also welcome to participate in food bank volunteer activities, benefiting Greenwood Food Bank customers. Community Cleanup at Woodland Park Zoo

Safeway’s Bright Green Clean Team will set out to cleanup the Woodland Park Zoo with help from the Pocock Junior Rowing Club. The Pocock Junior Rowing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a special drawing for a comprehensive cleanup day for a local school. Schools can be submitted by participants in the cleanup day.

Hands Across the Sand

An event to protest offshore drilling, 'Hands Across the Sand' wants people to come to Alki Beach to join hands at noon on Saturday June 26.

The event co-sponsored by political organization will begin at 11am near the Alki Bathhouse.

STEP 1 Go to the beach at 11 AM in your time zone for one hour, rain or shine.
STEP 2 Join hands for 15 minutes at 12:00 forming lines in the sand against oil drilling in our coastal waters.
STEP 3 Leave only your footprints.
