What: “Birch Bark and Bothnian Breezes,” The PKH Trio, from Finland -- Multitalented musicians from Umeå and Luleå in Northern Sweden, Pia Karin Helsing (soprano, cello, violin), Görel Särs (accordion, piano, guitar), and Cay Nyqvist (clarinet, percussion, composer) present a program rooted in old music traditions of Swedish-speaking Ostrobothnia, Finland, with a magical blend of classical masterworks.  read more »

What: Icelandic-born violinist, Elfa Rún Kristinsdóttir, Grand Prize winner of the 2006 J. S. Bach Competition in Leipzig, European Council’s Pro Europa incentive award and concertmaster of Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, is joined by Seattle pianist Deborah Dewey, a graduate of Yale, Wellesley, and winner of the KMS Resident Artist Competition. Enjoy a program of Icelandic composers with a German twist and a touch of Baroque — Haflioi Hallgrimsson, Árni Björnsson, Schubert and Bach.  read more »

Pacific Lutheran University’s Choir of the West at Our Redeemer's

What: The repertoire spans many stylistic eras and genres and will include exciting performances of three works: Exultate, by PLU choral faculty member Brian Galante; Northern Lights, by Latvian composter Eriks Esenvalds, and Ubi Caritas, Hebu Upendo, an exciting new piece by PLU student Julian Reisenthel.
