Mariners Tickets for Sale

The West Seattle baseball team is selling tickets to the June 3 Mariner's game vs. the LA Angel's. The money raised goes to the baseball program and allows them to have the great experience of playing on a major league field in future years. Sunday, July 20. This year's tour features an eclectic mix of nine residential gardens ranging from sustainable vegetable gardens to ornamental Asian gardens. You'll also be treated to a garden that feels like you've just taken a trip to Hawaii and another that has been transformed from a blackberry-choked embankment with gravel-riddled clay soil into a freestyle realm of calming greenery. King County's Crisis Clinic is recruiting volunteers to answer calls on the 24-hour crisis line. Volunteers provide support for callers in emotional crisis, including persons contemplating suicide. Volunteer candidates are professionally trained, receiving over 56 hours of specialized training. Home Delivery Volunteers - These much-needed volunteers will pick up bags of groceries that have already been prepared by other volunteers and, using your own car, deliver to clients who cannot come to the Food Bank for their food. Volunteers are needed Friday mornings for just one to two hours a week

Food Pick-up Assistants - To go with our van driver to pick up food donations from area grocery stores. We need volunteers for Monday, Tuesday and Friday mornings. Total commitment is two to three hours a week. These volunteers must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.

Farmer's Market Pick-Up - Volunteers can help neighbors who are in need enjoy the bounty of fresh, healthy produce by being part of the team that picks up donations from the West Seattle Farmer's Market and unloads them at the Food Bank. You will be using our van so a Washington driver license and good driving record is needed. Two to three people per shift are ideal and individuals or groups are encouraged to apply. Shifts will be on Sundays from approximately 2 to 3:30 p.m., and volunteers are asked to sign up for one shift per month For more information about these volunteer positions call 932-9023, or stop by the West Seattle Food Bank weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tutors Needed

Our Lady of Guadalupe School

Tutors are needed for various programs at Our Lady of Guadalupe School for the 2007-08 school year. The After-School Tutoring program meets on Wednesdays from 2:15-3 p.m. from October to May. Tutors work with one or two students in grades K-5 in reading, math, writing, and tying shoes. The Sound Partners program operates during the school day. Tutors work with one student for 30 minutes at a time in a scripted reading program. Students in this program are in grades K-3. Strongly prefer tutors who can tutor a minimum of 4-5 hours per week. The White Center Food Bank provides food for over 1,100 hungry families each month. We are looking for volunteers to support our food pick up at local grocery stores by driving our van on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. We are also in search of volunteers that would be willing to accompany drivers on their routes. DramaQueen, a theatre company dedicated to promoting women in theatre, is establishing its home in White Center. The group is seeking local volunteers to help get the project up and running. Volunteers with professional and technical backgrounds and expertise are needed in all areas of stagecraft and organization including: program, audience, board and website development, office administration, fundraising, grant writing, graphic design, space planning, public relations, marketing and community outreach, data management, resource procurement, construction, ticket sales/box office and more.
