Strike Out Hunger Bowl-a-thon
The Strike Out Hunger Bowl-a-thon raises money to help Solid Ground's Food Security for Children (FSC) program feed thousands of infants and toddlers — and supports other Solid Ground efforts to end poverty.
In our community, thousands of families struggle to provide food for their children. Hungry kids suffer from ill health, have more difficulties in school and are more likely to remain impoverished. Food Security for Children helps food banks throughout Seattle better meet the needs of hungry families with young children by distributing toddler nutrition kits, enriched infant formula and other resources, information and supplies to help end childhood hunger.
The Bowl-a-thon is a great way to engage people to work against hunger. We promise you’ll have a great time! Each bowler who raises over $200 wins a special prize. Also, prizes are awarded to teams for Best Team Spirit (costumes help!), Most Awareness Generated (# of donors) and Most Hungry Kids Fed ($$ raised). We also welcome your donations of diapers, formula and jar food for Food Security for Children to distribute.
March 19 is the deadline for teams of four to six to register. Individuals are also welcome to sign up. Registration and pledge forms can be found online at this page:
http://www.solid-ground.org/News/bowl/Pages/default.aspx#register
Each bowler who raises $200 or more in tax-deductible donations receives a special prize. Start times are at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. For more information on the event, contact Anna Ramos at 206-694-6857 or annar@solid-ground.org.
