Where are the priests? Aren't there three catholic churches in west Seattle? They'll take your money but you are not equal!
This is such a great reminder that many, many churches and people of faith are working for equality and justice for all families. People who use religion to take away rights and societal support for families do not speak for all Christians or other faiths. Thank you for speaking up for APPROVE 71!
Reject REF 71....Homosexual sex is an abomination in the eyes of Almighty God!! plain and simple! You don't like that answer...too bad!! All of you who promote REF 71 and others like it, will have to answer to God one day!! Whether or not you believe it...does not change anything. Gods laws are immutable....they do NOT change and are not regulated by public opinion.
WOE be to all you Chistian Pastors who lead your flock on the road to perdition....you will have the most to answer before God. This is FALSE compassion for you to promote Ref. 71 and does not lead to the true teaching of Jesus Christ. Shame on you!!!
The Bible and the ten commandments are very clear with regard to this issue. As Christians, we are called to love each other and be merciful...HOWEVER, it does not mean allowing, permitting or condoning people's sinful lifestyles. We are called to love the sinner and hate the sin.
In respone to "Lapse Catholic Altar Boy's" response, there are several Catholic churches in West Seattle. As you can see, NONE of them have not signed there names to this list! Glory be to God for the Catholic Church....for continuing to uphold the true teachings of God's Laws!
So Michael, what would Jesus do? He'd stand on the side of love and reject the pseudo Christian bigotry you promote. Jesus brought the Good News, and spoke nothing of which you so wronffull write. He hung out with the oppressed and supported their full integration into His world.
I applaud the West Seattle clergy for supporting Ref. 71. As a Christian, I am saddened at the comments of Michael who certainly does not relfect the views of my God and my Jesus. I urge all voters to support Ref. 71 and vote YES to allow equal rights to those who work, vote, pay taxes, support our schools and community, and are a vital part of our society in Washington. Thank you.
I'm sad that you are a Christian not standing by God. God created marriage. God created man and a woman to be married. And told us not to conform with the things of this world. Ref 71 does not support God's command.
Did God also command to vote no on Ref 71? I don't remember that part...
Protect the sanctity of marriage! Ban heterosexual divorce (now watch all the thrice-married Republicans revolt and pour into the streets...).
Hate is not a family value. Remember that.
Michael and Guest 2, aside from our religion. APPROVING REF-71 constitutes protective laws to ALL CITIZENS and LEGAL RESIDENTS of WA States. Meaning: The right to use sick leave to care for a domestic partner (gay or straight senior citizens).
1. The right to wages and benefits when a domestic partner is injured, and to unpaid wages upon the death of a domestic partner.
2. The right to unemployment and disability insurance benefits.
3. The right to workers’ compensation coverage. Insurance rights, including rights under group policies, policy rights after the death of a domestic partner, conversion rights and continuing coverage rights.
4. Rights related to adoption, child custody and child support.
5. Business succession rights
...that our Gov signed in Jun. And if you read & understood this bill is "everything BUT marriage".
Your narrow understanding of this law brings sadness & shame to the rest of us (Christians) using the words God & the 10 commandments.
I have served in the Altar for 7 yrs, extending my services to Christian Faith down in So America & recently returned from Madrid, Spain. To help widened your view of the real world we're living in ... progressive Christian countries like Argentina (1st country) legalized same-sex marriage years ago, Spain followed in 2005. Same-sex union also had passed in Roman Catholic Italy as well. Christians around the globe, my friend, are showing care & compassion following what you call "the true" Gods teaching.
I hope you both & many of our hateful Washingtonian brothers & sisters now know that other Christian followers 'approve resolution on human rights against discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation." Why? Because we, too (heterosexual family oriented Catholics), have a choice to become the "true" voice of God. A voice that doesn't offend nor oppress rather extends a helping hand to the needy.
There is already too much troubles in this world you can both focuse on your daily prayers like the recent earthquake deaths along the coast of Indonesia, off the pacific (US Samoa) & all the flodding in the Phillipines. Consider volunteering some prayers and perhaps time how to help others (not oppress) not a TRUE CHRISTIAN YOU say you are.
I hope you & all 122,007 (signed the petition using our Chrisitan faith) that is now creating disorder in the laws & turmoil to 12,000 human being will find it in your heart how hateful & condeming you sound. Recall the jews condeming Christ to be crucified simply because they didn't agree (in retrospect)?
You, Guest2, myself & my wife or my Catholic raised children may not agree with their homosexual lifestyle but they have the right as tax payers & voters of our government to their partners medical obligations. How quick can we forget that they, too, supported & stood by us during the World Trade bombing. My family in NY at the time we're UNITED WE STAND saw no religion, sex, or color.
APPROVING 71 is also a valuable option for our heterosexual seniors who often can't marry without sacrificing hard-earned Social Security and pension benefits. Denying these rights to legal domestic partners is a form of discrimination and oppression of a minority. Really NOT a Christian value my brother.
Learning to separate our RELIGION to WA laws & politics, Michael, will help you understand that this already passed bill (SB-5688) isn't anywhere (close) against the 10 commandments in God's Revelation my brother. The Old Testament states: 1. 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'
2. 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'
3. 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'
4. 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'
5. 'Honor your father and your mother.'
6. 'You shall not murder.'
7. 'You shall not commit adultery.'
8. 'You shall not steal.'
9. 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'
10. 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'
Peace be with you my brother, sister (Guest2) & all that are rejecting. But UNITED WE ARE STILL STANDING. I APPROVE REF 71.
Michael, focus yourself.
Our children needs protection from molesting priests not adults & their marriage.

Thank you to the Clergy that supported EQUAL RIGHTS.
Washington is the first in the nation to pass a balot box in support of Domestic Partnership rights.
This is why I am always proud to say. I am a WASHINGTONIAN.
