WSHS students confront kidney disease realities
A frank, sometimes disturbing, demonstration about kidney disease was presented in Linda Bothel’s health class at West Seattle High School Thursday, March 11, to coincide with Word Kidney Day. Dr. Eric Anderson and colleague Dr. Kim Muczynski with the UW Department of Medicine Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension showed the class a small dialysis machine that separated urine from blood. City seeking input for Youth and Families initiative
The City of Seattle is looking for your feedback to help shape the Youth and Families Initiative. The Herald previously brought you this story here. A local meeting is being held at Denny Middle School on March 15th at 7:30pm. The Youth and Families Initiative is a major initiative announced by Mayor Mike McGinn during his inaugural address. Three Puget-Sound area community colleges earn accreditation as baccalaureate institutions
Three Puget Sound-area community colleges have earned accreditation as baccalaureate colleges from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the body that accredits all Northwest institutions of higher education, public and private.
Baccalaureate accreditation status means that the three colleges – South Seattle Community College (Seattle), Bellevue College (Bellevue), and Olympic College (Bremerton) – meet the standards for performance, integrity, and quality required of all bachelor’s degree-granting colleges and universities.
The standards are set by the Northwest Commission, whose work is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. More ›
